Spina Bifida Support Group Foundation, Inc. Celebrates 25 Years of Empowering Individuals and Families Affected by Spina Bifida
Quezon City, Philippines – October 22, 2023 – The Spina Bifida Support Group Foundation, Inc. (SBSGF) is celebrating its 25th anniversary of providing support, education, and advocacy for individuals and families affected by spina bifida, a birth defect that affects the spinal cord.
Since its inception in 1998, SBSGF has been a beacon of hope for countless individuals and families facing the challenges of spina bifida. The organization has provided essential support services, including educational resources, financial assistance, and peer-to-peer networking opportunities. SBSGF has also been a tireless advocate for the rights and needs of people with spina bifida, working to ensure that they have access to quality healthcare, education, and employment opportunities.
“We are incredibly humbled by the impact we have made over the past 25 years,” said Dr. David Bolong, President and Executive Director of SBSGF. “We have helped thousands of individuals and families navigate the challenges of spina bifida and live fulfilling lives. We are committed to continuing our work to make a positive difference in the lives of those affected by this condition.”
To commemorate its 25th anniversary, SBSGF hosted an event last October 22, 2023, at the Quezon City Memorial Circle and was attended by patients, their families, and their friends together with the new officers and board members. Attendees were encouraged by the testimonies of the guest speakers, Ms. Carmen Zubiaga at Ms. Jessica Siquijor-Magbanua.
“We are grateful for the support of our donors, volunteers, and community partners,” said Dr. Loudette Bolong. “With your continued support, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of those affected by spina bifida.”
